Times do change fast; all too often, you look up, and your favourite places have disappeared or changed beyond recognition. We've been delving into the archives to bring you some of our favourite places and memories, to dust off the cobwebs of the past. Call us old romantics, but it's a part of who we are and where we grew up.

Do you remember how busy Fargate and Chapel Walk was when shopping at Xmas? And what about the Map at the Pond Street? Who can forget the famous Rex Cinema? Or going to the going swimming at Sheaf Baths and grabbing some food at The Golden Egg. There’s no mistaking the Hole in the Road, we miss it too.

What about when the Gleadless estate was built and all brand new? Chapel walk when it was full of shops and people, how strange is that now? When the Tinsley Towers meant you were almost home. When Commercial Street was full of buses or going to a friend wedding at the Registry Office. Sweets from the local news agents, we all loved that.
